MSV Brno 2016

 The MSV Brno, one of the most important industrial trade fairs in Europe, took place in the second largest city in the Czech Republic, Brno, from October 3 to 7. The whole Exapro team attended to see the newest industrial and machine trends.

Here is a snapshot of the 2016 edition.

Few figures

With 1,670 exhibiting companies from 34 countries, and more than 80.000 visitors expected for the 2016 edition, the trade show is one of the most important events in the industry. 76% of the visitors are decision makers. It is also one of the most diverse industrial fairs. Even though the show presents mainly machine tools manufacturers, it’s possible to find packaging, plastic, electronics milling, metallurgical, chemistry and many others areas. MSV has extended their activity to the 3D area and has introduced a competition for young machine operators. The fair has a dedicated building for industrial start-ups. Furthermore, It’s possible to find exposants to develop markets abroad (Chamber of commerce, development assistance in other countries, etc.). To provide opportunities to engineering graduates and to help them get information about available jobs and positions, MSV has created a job fair. It took place on Wednesday.

Overall, The trade show has managed to extend its activity in very diverse areas to fit with the trends and technological evolutions, which is one of the reasons why it is so successful today.

Important manufacturers and exhibitors

The trade show has succeeded in bringing together very important manufacturers from all over the world. Fanuc, Trumpf, Mazak, Mitsubishi, DMG Mori and many others were present at the 2016 edition.

What’s new for the 2016 edition?

Fanuc presented its new robot M-2000iA/2300, which can lift 2.3 tons (the previous Fanuc could lift 1.7 tons).

Mitsubishi introduced its new generation of CNC (M800/M80 series), which enables higher productivity and easier operability. Flow presented their new generation of waterjet machines. The new CNC Swiss-type automatic lathe star sr 38B was also shown by Alfleth. Trumpf, Mazak and DMG Mori presented their new machine tools, laser cutting machines and punching machines. It was possible to see all of these machines in operation. Decision makers for those brands were present to provide information and sell their equipment.

The next edition of MSV will be held in 2017 in Brno (October 09 – 13).
